Are anthromes a replacement for biomes?
No. Anthromes provide an alternative view of the biosphere as reshaped by humans. Conventional biome systems are still very useful. They can be combined with climate models to describe the responses of many ecosystems to climate change. Conventional biomes also serve as an invaluable benchmark against which to measure the amount of ecological change induced by human activities.
