How do you pronounce the word genre?
You can have some fun with the idea of the schwa, or neutral vowel sound, if you are skeptical. The first a in banana is unstressed, so it will be a good example. Try speaking the following words normally, without any effort to force the sounds: banana, benana, binana, bonana, bunana, bynana, and use the same stress that you would use for banana. Unless you force the word, you’ll see that the first vowel sound is about the same, whatever vowel you insert. This is the neutral vowel sound, called schwa. Some argue that many or most unstressed vowel sounds in English can be correctly rendered with this neutral schwa sound.
