What is detached mode?
Detached mode allows you to use basic client features even when your computer cannot maintain communication with the BitWise server. By default, BitWise will automatically try to reconnect to the server every minute for 20 minutes. You may wish to check the BitWise web site to see if there are any announcements about an outage. In most cases, communication disruptions are temporary problems with your ISP and you will be logged back in shortly. Major actions that cannot be performed while detached: • Add contacts to your contact list • Remove contacts from your contact list • Update your directory information • View another user’s directory information • Change your offline preferences • Change your password • Send offline messages • Receive offline messages • Receive status updates from the server • Retrieve contact’s last online time from the server • Retrieve extended away messages • Set an extended away message • Perform any user searches • View chatty users • Change visibility of y
