How do I get OpenOffice.org installed on Red Hat Linux or Mandrake Linux via the RPM packaging format?

Both Red Hat and Mandrake distribute OpenOffice.org on their CD’s. These are usually stable releases, in their package management format called RPM. Usage of a command like urpmi (on Mandrake) or rpm -ivh (on Red Hat) will solve most problems. urpmi resolves dependencies, however the rpm command is a little different.
