What is the hiring process for Village of Algonquin employees?
A.When a vacancy occurs, or a new position is approved, the Village will proceed with internal hiring. If, at that time, there are no qualified candidates, the Village will advertise in a local newspaper, on the website, and at various Illinois colleges. In some cases, professional journals are also used. After the deadline for each recruitment, applications are processed, reviewed, and the most qualified candidates are called for interviews. Interviews are conducted with the position’s immediate Supervisor and/or the Department Director and/or the Human Resources (HR) Director. The HR Director then performs reference checks on all candidates prior to the offer of employment being made. Standard criminal background checks and driving record checks (where relevant) are also conducted. Q.
