Why did Maddie marry Walter?
She met him on a train and began to tell him her history. They eloped while they were stopped in Las Vegas. Maddie told David, upon returning to the agency after four months of “hiding” in Chicago, that she met Walter and fell in love with him. David laughed, thinking that she married Walter only to spite him. The theory is that Maddie married Walter because she feared coming home and Walter was something to lean back on. Walter knew that Maddie didn’t truly love him and agreed that an anullment was best.
