What are the Wisdom Books?
The books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job make up the wisdom literature in the Tanak. These books contain short observations and instructions about how to live life. They also contain poetry that focus on the meaning of life, and nature. These books are very different than the others before them. They do not lay such a heavy focus on the covenant law, but focus more on the human search for order. Since the wisdom books focus on the meaning of life, the most important idea in this section is to try and determine what the true them is. The Book of Job introduces two possible themes.
