What is a Tysabri Infusion?
Tysabri (Natalizumab) is a newly approved humanized monoclonal antibody medication for the treatment of Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS). The approval was based on results from clinical trials in which Tysabri reduced the rate of clinical relapses by up to 66% and reduced the development of new or newly enlarging MRI-detected brain lesions. A greater proportion of those on therapy remained relapse-free as compared to controls. At our infusion center, Tysabri is infused by vein, once a month. It is infused by a specially trained and certified infusion nurse and physician. At Hudson Valley Neurology, we were given the honor of being the first medical office to deliver Tysabri in the northeast. Another unique feature is that we are the only prescribing doctorâs office offering Tysabri infusions. Most patients are required to go to infusion centers. Our clinic offers one on one nursing. At Hudson Valley Neurology, the prescribing doctor is always present during the infusion. A
