WebLearn, like Webmail, OUCS Registration and other services, is a Single Sign-on (SSO) service, where you can log in to one and then move across without having to re-enter username and password. Normally, if you move from one to the other, you see green tick page and then go straight through. However, if you come into WebLearn, from another SSO service, you are treated initially as just a visitor. Why is that so? The underlying reason for the difference in WebLearn’s behaviour is due to support for external user accounts, i.e. those who are not members of the University – which includes NHS staff, part time students, external research collaborators and so on.
