Why can I just buy the Dinar at the current rate that is listed at the Central Bank of Iraq?
That rate is only available to institutions in Iraq or to account holders at banks there. You are basically paying us (or any other Dinar dealer) a convenience fee to bring the Dinar to you. The exchange rate on the street in Iraq is about 1,000 Dinars to 1 US Dollar right now. Once we get closer to when the international exchange rate is going to be set, the supply will become unavailable to us as many people there will be unwilling to part with what Dinar they have.
