What types of dental bridges are there?
Dental bridges come in three different varieties: Traditional Fixed Bridge A traditional fixed bridge cannot be removed. The bridge is bonded to two crowns that are affixed to the teeth on either side of the gap. A traditional fixed bridge can be used for one or more missing teeth. Resin Bonded Bridges Resin bonded bridges are usually used on the front teeth. With this type of bridge, the replacement tooth is attached to metal bands that are then bonded to the surrounding teeth. This eliminates the need for crowns. Resin bonded bridges are usually placed on healthy teeth with few or no fillings and they are less expensive than traditional fixed bridges. Cantilever Bridges Cantilever bridges are primarily used on front teeth. Unlike other types of dental bridges, cantilever bridges are to one neighboring tooth.
