How much does kids soccer cost?
It really depends on where you live & what type of league you’re signing up for (and whether they have grant money available, rely on volunteers or are a professional organization) Our AYSO fees in the Chicago suburbs this year were $45 if you signed up before a certain date in February -or- $60 after that. All parents are required to volunteer in some capacity. All coaches, refs, staff are volunteers. The fees pay for field rental & trophies. Each child also needs a set of AYSO soccer shirts (one red, one blue) at about $15 per set. And, each child needs shin guards (which you can get at Target for about $10). Shirts & shin guards can be used or hand-me-downs, too. There are park district leagues & soccer camps that cost about the same. And, in our area, there are more professional leagues at sports complexes that cost much more, but that hire professional coaches, refs, etc.
Soccer is one of the least expensive sports children can get into. My boys only needed soccer shoes and small fee. Don’t know where your located. In Canada, there is funding available to help any child who cannot afford to purchase equipment and pay fees. If your in Canada, you can contact the Canadian Tire Jump Start Program for an application for funding. Part of this program is set up in the name of my neighbour’s son Brandon ( Brandon Crisp Foundation of Hope ) who died on Canada Thanksgiving Day last year. ( Connie Mom of 4 and 5th.
