I just bought a Morgan foal that has never been registered. Why does hehave to be registered in someone elses name and then transferred to meif I am his first registered owner?
There areseveral reasons why. 1. The Rules require the owner of the dam at thetime of foaling to be listed as the original owner of the foal; 2. Thehorse was owned by someone else before you purchased him, even if hewasn’t registered, and the rules require all ownership to be recorded;3. The registration application requires the applicant to certifycertain facts about the foal that you can’t certify; only the personwho owned the mare when she foaled will be able to certify.
