What is tapas in Spanish cuisine?
Tapas are small dishes, sort of like appetizers. One typically goes to a tapas bar for a really late dinner and gets a handful of them. In Barcelona, the average dinnertime was around 9:30 to 12am, I would guess. Tapas bars would sell frittatas, fish, little meat dishes, and a ton of other delicious things. You go up to the bar and order half a dozen or so and split them with friends and family.
