What is SILC?
95 A: SILC (Secure Internet Live Conferencing) is a protocol which 96 provides secure conferencing services in the Internet over insecure 97 channel. SILC is IRC like although internally they are very different. 98 Biggest similarity between SILC and IRC is that they both provide 99 conferencing services and that SILC has almost same commands as IRC. 100 Other than that they are nothing alike. 101 102 Biggest differences are that SILC is secure what IRC is not in any 103 way. The network model is also entirely different compared to IRC.
