Precision Area Navigation or P-RNAV is a further elaboration of the Required Navigation Performance (RNO) standards being set forth in Europe. Earlier standards for RNO in Europe included Basic Area Navigation or B-RNAV. P-RNAV is steadily evolving into a requirement and potential full mandate in Europe as availability to airspace for non-compliant aircraft becomes less available and more restrictive. Some of the advantages of P-RNAV capability and compliance for operators includes no-hold times, more efficient routing allowing for faster en-route times.
