What is a Phase II Study?
Before an investigational drug can be approved by the FDA or any other regulatory body, it must be tested on patients to evaluate its usefulness and safety. Phase II studies are designed to evaluate how well the drug works, as well as to continue the safety assessments in a larger group of patients. All investigational drugs must complete three phases of research before being considered for approval by the FDA.
