What are the notes in the IPC?
(see also paragraph 29 of the Guide to the IPC) In addition to hierarchical entries (sections, classes, subclasses, main groups and subgroups), the Classification contains also notes which are an integral part of the IPC. Notes are important for proper understanding of the text of the IPC because they define specific terms, explain the scope of places and indicate how subject matter is classified.
