What is a Bass Manager?
This is a circuit that takes all the frequencies below 80Hz from the main channels and the signal from the LFE channel and mixes them together into the speakers in the system best equipped to handle them (This is usually a subwoofer, but sometimes it’s routed to the left and right front speakers if a sub doesn’t exist). The reason why this is done is to make use of the subwoofer for more than the occasional low frequency effect, since the sub is there anyway. As a result, Bass Management lowers the effective frequency response of the system, which in many professional cases is to about 25 Hz.
