Austin ISD offers both HMO Health Maintenance Organization) and PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) health plans though Blue Cross Blue Shield. Because Austin ISD pays $325.98 per month toward each employee health plan, we offer very competitive insurance coverage for our employees. The school district also provides its employees with a $5,000 Basic Life policy. First Financial Group of America is the District’s cafeteria plan administrator. A cafeteria plan (known as flexible benefits) is an option to claim a deduction in taxable withholding gross. Optional products include dental, long term disability, vision, dependent child care, cancer, medical expense reimbursement plan, and flexible benefits for health and optional term life insurance. Employees may also take advantage of a Tax Sheltered Annuity plan through First Financial Group of America. All Austin ISD employees are enrolled in the Teachers Retirement System of Texas.
