If you’re a grilling sort of guy, go with some steaks on the grill, a nice salad, and some good bread that you can slice, drizzle olive oil on and grill that briefly too. If you’re wine drinkers, a nice bottle of cabernet sauvignon (doesn’t have to be expensive – Concha y Toro makes a nice cab-merlot blend that’s very inexpensive and tasty.) If you’re not great in the kitchen but you just want to surprise her with dinner, get Stouffer’s frozen lasagna and bake that according to package directions. Then top with a little extra shredded mozzarella cheese and pop back into the oven for another 10 minutes or so until it’s melted and a little bubbly. Make a salad to go with it… get a loaf of Italian bread… Straccali chianti (or Citra Montepulciano D’Abruzzo if you’re on a budget) Dessert is easy with fresh fruit in season (think strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries) and pound cake available in the bakery for about $1… top with whipped cream or Cool Whip.
