What are the requirements to be in AED?
The Beta Chapter at UNC has two main tenets for membership: scholarship and service. In that spirit, we require a 3.2 GPA for both overall and for science classes. So to be an official Chapter member, you need to have an established GPA. This means at least one year at UNC (or at an accredited University). For National induction, 3 semesters of college work is required. For the service aspect, we have separate requirements for pledges and members. Pledges: 6 In-Club Hours (at AED sponsored events), 6 Out of Club Hours, and participation in AED’s two main events- the Hearts on Franklin 5k and the Health Fair in the Spring. We also request that pledges miss no more than two meetings per semester.
