What is clearing?
In short, clearing is the final UCAS cycle whereby students who have yet to secure a place at a university or college can apply directly to the academic institutions. UCAS issue to applicants already in the system, and also late applications with a CEF (clearing entry form). Unlike the original application form, the CEF contains applicant details, nationality, fee status, disability details, and also basic qualification details. If an applicant is not in the UCAS cycle, and so does not have a CEF form, can apply directly to the college using a ROPA application form (record of prior acceptance). For applicants applying directly to the college it is advisable to have an academic reference drafted to accompany an application.
