A. Start by setting up the primary instrument’s transposition as usual in the Staff Attributes dialog box. (If you’re using one of Coda’s templates which includes your primary instrument, the transposition is already set correctly.) While still in the Staff Attributes dialog box, place a check next to Key Signature under Independent Elements, then click OK. Now, if you select the Key Signature tool and click on a measure, you can change the key signature on just the specified staff (to accommodate the different transposition) without affecting the other staves in the score. If you’d like this staff to playback correctly for both transpositions, you can create a Staff Expression that will contain this information. Choose the Staff Expression tool and click on the first note of the doubled instrument section. With the Text button selected, choose Create and enter the text that will accompany the transposition. Typically this text alerts the performer to the change – an example might be:
