Why doesn Webfile charge GST?
The CCRA will charge the goods & services tax (or the harmonized sales tax, depending on the jurisdiction) to UFile.ca but when you use Webfile, we pay the tax. Similarly, Webfile will pay any provincial sales tax applicable. This way, all Canadian taxpayers are charged the same price for using Webfile and no one is penalized for living in a jurisdiction with higher tax rates.
