How does SACD differ from DVD-Audio?
DVD-Audio uses PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) for the encoding of sound, while SACD uses DSD, a 1-bit technology that encodes audio in a fundamentally different way. DVD-A allows interactive user interfaces and extra content similar to a DVD-Video title. Both formats are capable of delivering ultra-high quality stereo and surround sound audio. In the future, look for combination players that will support both formats.
