How accurate is rural road numbering?
Rural road numbers are determined using vehicles with precise, electronic distance measuring equipment. (which is accurate to one metre). Properties in some rural municipalities may not have rural addresses based on distance. These councils did rural addressing prior to this Project starting in October 2001. Car odometers were used to determine rural road numbers. These are not as accurate as the numbers being allocated during the current project.
