What is the Village doing to combat rising “Property Taxes”?
The Village is only one component of your property tax bill. Generally, we account for 24% of the total with 56% going to the school district, 7% to the technical colleges and 12% to the county. The cost of providing services such as police, fire, EMS and public works goes up annually as does the cost of road work and maintaining the parks. However, the Village has attempted to par these new costs with the development of new value such as new housing, commercial and industrial businesses.
