How long does a black-bear hamster live?
Your hamster is showing normal behavior. The things you have talked about is typical for a hamster. We have had several over the years. Also it would not be a good idea to get her a friend. At this point she is use to being alone and she will be very teritorial. Hamsters unless they are the dwarf generally like to be alone and will not get along.
OK. Let’s get this out of the way: Black Bear Hamsters, Teddy Hamsters, Golden Hamsters, all those EXCEPT DWARF HAMSTERS,ROBOS, AND CHINESE DWARFS are ALL Syrian Hamsters. And Syrian Hamsters live to be a bout 2-3 years if kept with GOOD care. It may look like she doesn’t eat much, but she probably eats at night because hamsters are nocturnal (meaning that they are asleep during the day and awake around nighttime). There is a lot of food in her hiding area because she is eating there, and I don’t see a problem with that. Hamsters store food in their pouches (Their pouches are in their mouths) and ALL hamsters do this. SYRIAN HAMSTERS ARE NEVER LONELY. Don’t add another hamster to the cage unless you want to see fighting and deaths! Syrian Hamsters are meant to be a lone because in the wild, they were alone most of the time. They can kill each other (guaranteed!) if kept together.
hamsters are solitary creatures so getting her a “buddy” isn’t the best idea, theres food in her hiding area because thats what they do in the wild, my black-bear lived for about 2 years, they last usually for 2-3years, i don’t think there is anything wrong because hamsters are just usually lazy, she is probably up when you don’t see her, like at 3-5 in the morning, or sometimes around 7-9 in the morning, it depends
