How fast is CustomMailer?

CustomMailer reads, parses, and resizes the columns for your entire mailing list when it starts up. On a 500MHz Pentium III Windows 98 machine, a mailing list of 5,000 names with 10 fields each takes about 8 seconds to read in from a file, and a list of 16,000 names takes about 35 seconds. The per-message sending time is a function of your network connection and SMTP server (see “Optimizing Performance”). On the same machine, CustomMailer sends one page messages with no attachments over a 56K modem dial-up to a local ISP is about 2 seconds/message or about 2000 messages/hour. With DSL or other higher-speed internet connections, better than 1 second/message is typical, about 4-5000 messages/hour. The multi-threaded sending feature of the CustomMailer Enterprise Edition typically increase these numbers by a factor of 2-3X.
