SMG is sequential manual gearbox. In a nutshell, it is a manual tranny without a clutch pedal. It does not incorporate the dreaded torque converter (which sucks up HP). As of today, it will only be offered in the M3 starting sometime late this year (November 2001) and will have an approximate cost of $2700 MSRP.
