I voted by absentee ballot, but changed my mind regarding one of the candidates right after I mailed it. Can I make changes after I mail the absentee ballot?
Yes. On Election Day, you can go to your polling location and vote in-person, as long as your absentee vote has not been counted. When the Election Judges process the absentee ballots, they will see that you voted in-person and will not count your absentee ballot. Once your absentee ballot has been counted, you will not be allowed to vote in-person. Question: I know that to vote by absentee ballot I need to have a witness who is either a person registered to vote in Minnesota or a notary public. If I use a notary public, does he/she have to also be registered to vote in Minnesota? Answer: No. A notary public serving as a witness for an absentee ballot does not need to be registered to vote in Minnesota. The notary should write their name and title and sign the absentee ballot envelope, but does not need to provide an address. Click here for more information on absentee ballots.
