Does the Hollywood Plus have a 16-bit or 32-bit MPEG driver?
• The Hollywood Plus has a 32-bit MPEG driver. However, programs can talk to the H+ using MCI, which is a 16-bit interface. • Picture on the monitor is wavy • Try Advanced – Adjust Borders in the configuration program • Make sure there are no power transformers or other causes of electrical interference nearby. • Try different monitor resolutions and refresh rates • DVDs play fine for a while, then everything goes haywire! • Check your DVD-ROM – many DVD-ROMs have peculiar problems reading certain types of discs. Toshiba Gen 2 and Gen 3 drives are known to have problems. See if you can get a firmware upgrade for your drive. • Try disabling screen savers, applications that run in the background, etc. • Feel your computer’s case near your Hollywood Plus card. Try running with your case open. If your Hollywood Plus plays fine (or plays longer), you may have a temperature problem. Try adding some cooling fans near your H+ and see if that helps the problem.
