Do cats run away to die?
Do NOT give up! He could still be out there. Bang on some cans, leave food out, keep calling him, and if you can bare it (or if you can get your father to do it), check along the ditches of any nearby road, but don’t give up on him. It is true that cats crawl away to die, and it isn’t just true for cats but for most animal species as well. When animals get sick, really sick, they run away to quiet places where they think they can just have a nap and get better. I had a diabetic cat, about 2 years who was dieing of renal failure and wandered off. We found him 9 hours later, he had apparently crashed and we found flies eggs in his fur (he had laid still for so long, the flies thought he was dead). Thankfully, he was still alive and we managed to get some food into him, clean him up, get rid of the fly eggs and get him balanced once again. We didn’t let him out again (except when he was under parental supervision ^~), and he died about 3 weeks later in my arms. I hope you find your cat so
