How do adult English language learners differ from adult basic education (ABE) learners?
ABL learners do not need the same instruction style as a second-language learner (SLL). An SLL typically needs a specific approach to the education environment, which also involves the challenges associated with culture shock and other variables that can influence a student’s ability to learn in a classroom.
ESL/SSL students also need supplementary material that will allow them to improve their English language communication skills and allow them to pass English tests in order to further a GED or simply assist with catching up with their grade level.
