What is a crossover?

0

A crossover separates the high frequencies and the low frequencies to allow optimum and efficient operation of the speakers in your audio system.

A crossover is an electrical filter. All tweeters need a ‘high pass’ filter. This means the filter only allows high frequency sounds to reach the tweeter. If you feed low frequency sounds to a tweeter it will try and move large amounts and possibly be damaged. You can, if you wish, put a ‘low pass’ filter on a woofer. This means that it doesn’t have to play the really high notes which the tweeter is designed to handle. 4.
