What is the TOEFL iBT?
The TOEFL® Internet-based test (iBT) tests all four language skills that are important for effective communication: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. It is a reliable and accurate measure of a student’s academic English language skills. The TOEFL iBT also emphasises integrated skills and provides better information to institutions about students’ ability to communicate in an academic setting and their readiness for academic coursework.
The Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Testing (TOEFL iBT) is the new TOEFL exam which will consist of four sections: reading, writing, listening, and the new section – speaking. It will be delivered via the Internet at official test centers which will allow ETS to capture speech and score responses in a standardized manner. The new TOEFL iBT can be taken to establish eligibility for admission into UCI as well as for TA employment. The test must be taken in its entirety in order to receive a valid score.
