We use 8″ diameter bags for several reasons. The bigger 8″ diameter allows for a lower velocity at the tubesheet which reduces the abrasion on the bag. It also allows the dust to fall faster; prevents bridging during the shake-down cycle; and reduces the quantity of bags to change.
