What are black diamonds?
They are natural diamonds that have undergone heat treatment. Typically, a cutter uses nicely cut diamonds that are relatively free of inclusions that are not the finest white color. When the treatment is applied, the result is a rich black color with lots of reflective sparkle. Natural black diamonds do occur, but they are inconsistent in color and often full of cracks. The color-enhanced blacks are far more attractive. Should the piece ever require repair, please bring or send the jewelry back to the place of purchase, as they will be the most knowledgeable as to how to handle the job.
