How are allergies treated?
Hi there! Thank you for the thread and the disussions here. I would like to recommend that you have a look at these allergy treatment drugs, for example. I am pretty sure that you will find it interesting and working to you too. Please let me know what you think about it and good luck 🙂
Allergies can be treated with medicine that alleviates symptoms or immunotherapy (allergy shots) that desensitize the patient to specific allergens with weekly shots over several years. However, the best method of treating allergies is allergen avoidance. If you’re allergic to dust mites, for instance, your most effective path to wellness would be to eliminate the dust mites from your home.
Allergy treatments involve 3 fundamental principles. First, avoidance of the known irritant or allergen responsible for inducing the state of hypersensitivity. Second, when avoidance of a specific allergen source such as house dust or certain pollens is impossible, then drug therapy is used. Finally, when avoidance and drug therapy fail to adequately control the inflammation involved in a person’s allergic disease, specific allergen immunotherapy (otherwise known as allergy injections) are used to help prevent the progression of the allergic disease. It is important to point out that allergen immunotherapy is the only treatment available today that can actually change a patient’s immune system back toward normal. Also, it is most important to remember that all allergic diseases, such as hay fever and asthma, are chronic long-standing diseases which require long-term management to better control and prevent the inflammatory mechanisms.
Experts agree that the best way to treat allergies is to avoid exposure to the allergens in the first place. But sometimes that’s impossible to do. Many different treatments are now available to relieve allergy symptoms, ranging from over-the-counter antihistamine medications to allergy shots. Sometimes, an antihistamine and a decongestant are used together to relieve multiple symptoms. Talk to your health care provider about trying different allergy treatments. He or she may refer you to an allergist. You may have to try a couple of different treatments before you find one that is r
