Employers expect the following from you: • Professional Dress: Dress professionally for your interview. An interview suit is expected. • Preparation: Come with an extra resumes! Be prepared with questions for the recruiter. Read about the company beforehand and have a sense of the company culture, expectations, available positions, etc. • Timely Arrival: Arrive 10-15 minutes before your interview time. Alert an OCR Staff person of your arrival when you get to your interview location. • Smoking: Do not smoke before your interview, not even in the car. Nonsmokers are particularly sensitive to the smell of smoke on a person’s clothing, etc., and it could detract from your interview. • Thank-You Notes: Send a thank-you note to your interviewer no later than 48 hours after your interview. Sample thank-you letters can be found online and through the Career Center. • Cell Phone Courtesy: Turn off your phone. Employers are not to be interrupted during an interview by your cell phone ringing. B
