The Governor’s Awards for Excellence Program is designed to honor State employees for outstanding achievements. This awards program was created by Governor James B. Hunt Jr. in 1982 and is sponsored by the Office of State Personnel and the Governor’s Committee for the Recognition of State Employees. The Governor’s Award for Excellence is the highest honor a State employee may receive for dedicated service to State Government and the citizens of North Carolina.
