Why is my 3 year old albino cockatiel suddenly acting very aggressive and biting me?
I have four cockatiels, one of which is an albino cross. My birds all go through phases where they get a bit big for their britches. First thing, clip their wings! You’d be amazed at the attitude adjustment this can have. Second, lots of time with birdie…on YOUR terms. If he/she wants to go back to his cage, don’t let him. Third, DO NOT REACT! If you react in any way it gives it power and makes it the boss. When I get onery ones I will hold them under a towel until they are calm, then take them out and talk and play nice. If they bite, back under the towel. Keep doing this until you can put the bird back in the cage on your terms. If it flies to the cage, back to the finger/towel. Chances are it bit once and got what it was after. This taught it that biting is an acceptable way to get what it wants/needs and its going to take consistent training to teach it otherwise.
