What are the major Lutheran beliefs?

Answer The major Lutheran belief is that we are unable to be perfect enough to win salvation for ourselves, but that God has sent His only Son to take the punishment for our sins and give us His perfect righteousness. This is why we put emphasis on the word “alone”. We are saved by God’s Grace, His undeserved favor towards us. (GRACE ALONE) We apprehend this Grace by the Faith that He works in us. (FAITH ALONE) We learn of this Faith from the Scripture. (SCRIPTURE ALONE). The whole emphasis is that we are totally dependent on God for our salvation and have no room to boast over any other person that we have it. There are many other “major beliefs” which are all dependent on this main one. If you would like to take a look at them, they can be found in many libraries or even online in the “Book of Concord”. The parts of this book were written to show the church that the teachings of the Lutherans were the same as the Bible and the church leaders of the early centuries of Christianity.
