What Are Alumalite Signs, Anyway?
Alumalite is obviously one of those hybrid industrial terms that can’t be found in the dictionary, so unless you’ve ordered an alumalite sign in the past, you may not be aware of its properties. Alumalite is simply a sign designed for long term exterior use that is comprised of a light weight corrugated plastic core bonded with aluminum sheeting on either side of the plastic. Alumalite signs are not as strong as wood signs or aluma-wood signs, the strongest sign available, but just because they are light in weight doesn’t mean they are light weights. Alumalite is the second strongest metal based sign after aluma-wood and the third strongest after aluma-wood and wood. The corrugated plastic core of alumalite signs is durable, and the aluminum exterior of the signs only reinforces the plastic, giving it unflappable strength. Alumalite has become a very popular choice in exterior signs because it offers the best of both worlds – durability and convenience in handling.
