What really happened on September 11th?
On September 11, 2001, terrorism became a real part of everyday life for all Americans. At 8:46 am, American Airlines flight 11 was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center by Al-Qaeda terrorists. In total 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists would hijack 4 commercial airliners. United Airlines flight 175 hit the South Tower, American Airlines flight 77 hit the Pentagon and United Airlines flight 93, believed to have been headed for the White House, crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. All together, 2993 people lost their lives on this day and the War on Terror began.
