Do fat cells really come back after surgery?
Except when you were very young or in cases of morbid obesity, fat cells are not created. Weight gain results from swelling of these fat cells. Once removed, they are gone. However, if you gain weight you the fat cells elsewhere and those remaining in the treated areas will swell. It is a misconception that the fat automatically grows somewhere else after liposuction. Diet and exercise still remain important.
