How should mushrooms be cleaned?
First, cut off the hard tip at the base of the mushroom. It is best to then wipe the mushrooms clean with a small brush or clean cloth. Mushrooms absorb a lot of moisture quickly. It is therefore best not to rinse them with water because they immediately release the moisture again during preparation (for example, baking, frying or in a salad). Tip: to brown mushrooms nicely, pre-fry them briefly on a high heat. This makes them look extra tasty and ready for further preparation in a dish.
