What is the definition of a conference?
A conference is a meeting, an event, workshop, symposium, retreat, or seminar that includes 30 or more attendees Service attendees that travel away from their official duty station and are placed in a per diem rate status. The conference planning policy established by the Department must be followed. (Reference: Conference Planning – Federal Travel Regulation Amendment 89 issued December 3, 2001). A Service sponsored conference must receive the approval of the Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks.
