How will payroll deductions be handled?
Payroll deductions for health benefits, optional group life insurance, parking and miscellaneous insurance, which are now paid in 24 installments per year, will continue unchanged under the biweekly plan. In those months when three paychecks are issued, these deductions will apply only to the first two paychecks. As a result, the third paycheck issued in that month will be slightly larger than the previous two. Deductions for voluntary elections, such as those made for U.S. Savings Bonds, medical/dependent care spending accounts, deferred compensation, annuities and the Combined Virginia Campaign, will continue on a 24-installment basis throughout 1997 and convert to a 26-installment deduction schedule beginning in 1998.
